Accreditation - University of Montevallo

The University of Montevallo’s College of Education and Human Development holds accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for its teacher certification programs, including both initial and advanced preparation programs. CAEP, recognized as the sole national accreditor for educator preparation by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), grants accreditation until Fall of 2029. This accreditation covers the period from October 2022 to December 2029, ensuring that the education provided meets or exceeds established quality standards.

The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), a crucial partner of the College of Education and Human Development, assesses and authorizes the College’s educator preparation programs. This review ensures compliance with the Alabama Core Teaching Standards and the Teaching Field standards, leading to certification. The ALSDE holds responsibility for Educator Certification within the state.

At the program levels, the bachelor’s program in music is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).

The bachelor’s program in Family and Consumer Sciences is accredited through the American Association for Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS).

The master’s programs in School Counseling, Couples and Families Counseling, and Clinical Mental Health Counseling are accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
