Tammy C. Cook, Ph.D. is a Professor of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Montevallo’s College of Education and Human Development. Dr. Cook has served as a faculty member in the Department of Teaching, Leadership, and Technology, Dr. Cook has dedicated her career to preparing future educators through innovative instruction, research, and leadership. She has served as the Secondary Program Coordinator since 2012.

Dr. Cook earned her Ph.D. in Secondary Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Alabama in 2009. She also holds a Master of Education in Secondary English Education from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Education in English Language Arts from Athens State College. With over a decade of experience teaching English at the secondary level, she brings invaluable classroom insights into her university courses.

Her research focuses on culturally responsive pedagogy, literacy instruction, and teacher preparation, with peer-reviewed publications in journals such as the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators (SRATE) Journal and the Review of Higher Education and Self Learning. Dr. Cook teaches a range of graduate courses, including content area literacy, instructional strategies, and assessment and intervention strategies for reading. She has also taught several undergraduate courses, including Literature for Children and School and Society.

Committed to fostering excellence in education, Dr. Cook continues to contribute to the field through scholarship, mentorship, and leadership in secondary education.
