Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to protect your University of Montevallo account. Duo’s self-enrollment process makes it easy to register your phone and install the Duo Mobile application on your smartphone or tablet.

New Student Info

New students will not be prompted to enroll with Duo until they have registered for classes.

Step 1: Getting Started

First, visit Microsoft 365, log in with your UM credentials, and then follow the steps below.

On the Welcome screen, select Get started to begin enrolling your device.

Welcome to Duo Security Your organization uses Duo Security to protect your identity. Create an account to get started.

Step 2: Add a Device

Add a device to verify your identity during sign-in. Select from the available options shown (Windows Hello, Duo Mobile, Security Key, or Duo Desktop).

A smartphone with Duo Mobile is recommended for the best experience and easiest approvals. Tablets (iOS or Android) can also be used when using this method.

Follow the on-screen prompts to complete setup for your selected device. Depending on your choice, this may include scanning a QR code, approving a notification, or registering your device with your computer.

Step 3: Add Additional Devices

Once you have completed setup of a device, you will be prompted to add another device verification method. Employees and students are strongly encouraged to register at least two devices, such as a mobile device and a tablet.

Add one more device. With more options to log in, you'll be less likely to get locked out.
