Self-Service Portal (Manage Your Devices)

Duo Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to protect your University of Montevallo account. Duo’s self-enrollment process makes it easy to register and install the Duo Mobile application on your smartphone or tablet.

New Student Info

New students will not be prompted to enroll with Duo until they have registered for classes.

Step 1: Getting Started

First, visit Microsoft 365, log in with your UM credentials, and then follow the steps below.

On the Welcome screen, select Get started to begin enrolling your device.

Step 2: Add a Device

Set up a device or method to verify your identity when signing in.

The verification options available to you may vary depending on the device you are using. We recommend Duo Mobile for the easiest setup and sign-in experience.

Available verification methods

Touch ID – Use the fingerprint sensor on an Apple MacBook, Magic Keyboard, or iPhone.
Windows Hello – Use your Windows Hello PIN, fingerprint, or facial recognition on a Windows device.
Face ID – Use facial recognition on your iPhone.
Device Verification – Use biometric verification on an Android device.
Duo Mobile – Approve Duo Push verification requests using the Duo Mobile app on an iPhone or Android device.
Security Key – Use a WebAuthn/FIDO2-compatible security key.
Duo Desktop – Respond to authentication requests using the Duo Desktop app.

Complete your setup

Select the verification method you would like to use and follow the on-screen prompts to complete enrollment.

Depending on your selection, you may be asked to scan a QR code, approve a notification, use your fingerprint or facial recognition, enter or use a device PIN, or register a security key.

Step 3: Add Additional Devices as a Backup Method

Once you have completed setup of a device, you will be prompted to add another device verification method. Employees and students are strongly encouraged to register at least two devices, such as a mobile device and a tablet.

Add one more device. With more options to log in, you'll be less likely to get locked out.
