Upward Bound (Classic)

The classic Upward Bound programs provide intensive college preparatory support to potential first-generation college students and/or economically disadvantaged youth to help them successfully complete high school and enter college with the skills and motivation to complete a degree. They provide supplemental education, tutoring, ACT Prep, career exploration, academic counseling, assistance with scholarship and financial aid applications, and many other services for qualified students who want to go to college.

Upward Bound Math-Science

Upward Bound Math-Science provides all the same services that classic Upward Bound provides but places special emphasis on preparing students who are interested in pursuing degrees and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) fields. The program provides special STEM symposiums with UM math and science faculty, opportunities to assist UM students and faculty with research, job shadowing and internships in the STEM fields, and intensive supplemental education and tutoring in high school math and science subjects.

Because the TRIO Upward Bound programs are funded through the US Department of Education, all services are provided without charge to the program participants and their families.
