Early Childhood Education

The Early Childhood Education Program prepares individuals to work with children from birth through age eight (PreK–3rd grade). Graduates earn a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and receive Class B certification in Alabama, a requirement for teaching in public schools.

The program includes field experiences in infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms within NAEYC-accredited early learning programs, as well as K–3 public school settings. Upon successful completion, graduates are qualified for various roles in early childhood education, including teaching in PreK–3rd grade classrooms, teaching in Head Start/Early Head Start programs, working in childcare administration, and providing childcare resource and referral services.

Students apply to the Teacher Education Program (TEP) after completing 50 college credit hours.
