Student Post Office

The Student Post Office is in Farmer Hall and handles all student mail and packages.

  • Mail delivery and sorting — USPS mail is delivered each morning and sorted into individual student mailboxes.
  • Package processing — Packages are signed in, and students are notified by phone or by a pickup card placed in their mailbox.
  • Stamp sales — Stamps are available for purchase for student convenience.

Faculty & Staff Mail Services

The UM Post Office also manages all faculty and staff mail operations.

  • Incoming mail — All incoming mail is picked up from the U.S. Postal Service each morning, sorted, and distributed to departmental mailboxes.
  • Departmental pickup — Departments retrieve their incoming mail from these mailboxes.
  • Outgoing mail — Outgoing USPS mail and campus hand mail must be brought to the mail room by each department. All outgoing mail is processed and delivered to the U.S. Postal Service at 3:00 p.m. daily.
  • UPS and freight — UPS and freight shipments are prepared each day.
  • Personal mail restriction — Personal mail may not be charged to any University account.

Central Receiving

Central Receiving manages all official University shipments.

  • Incoming packages — Official UM packages are received at Central Receiving and delivered to the appropriate campus department.
  • Outgoing packages — All outgoing packages must be delivered to Central Receiving boxed and ready to ship.
  • Shipping labels — Central Receiving will create a shipping label unless one has already been provided.
  • Personal package restriction — Personal packages may not be delivered to or shipped from campus.

Central Receiving Department Overview

The Central Receiving Department is responsible for all shipments coming onto campus.

  • Campus distribution — Materials are received and delivered to the appropriate departments.
  • Physical Plant supplies — Central Receiving warehouses a wide variety of supplies used by the Physical Plant Division to repair and maintain campus buildings.
