Students who experience limitations or barriers related to taking tests or the testing environment may be eligible for testing accommodations. Common examples include extended time on tests, taking test in a distraction-reduced environment, and use of technology for assistance with reading or writing during tests.

For disability-related reasons, students may struggle to record all necessary lecture information in their notes. The primary accommodation utilized is “permission to use notetaking software with laptop, tablet, smart pen, etc.” which enables students to utilize Genio or another notetaking application of their choice to capture and organize lecture content more effectively. Notetaking technology supplements class participations and does not replace attendance or engagement.  

For students with print disabilities, our office offers access to braille, digital books, or large print to assist students with accessing course materials. 

For students that identify as deaf or hard of hearing, our office offers sign language interpreters, real time captioning (CART), or captioned videos for academic courses and events on campus. 

Our office provides assistive technology and recommendations to students experiencing various limitations or barriers within the academic setting.  

Priority registration is an accommodation approved when students have mobility, medical or other disability needs that impact their class schedule. These could include the timing of medication, food or treatments, difficulty walking long distances quickly, a slightly longer route due to wheelchair accessibility or excessive fatigue.
