Accessible Parking

Individuals who have a state disability parking placard or license tag issued in their name are eligible to receive a UM Accessible Parking Permit that allows their vehicle to be parked in any legal parking zone (accessible, resident, commuter, or faculty/staff) on UM’s campus.

Step One: Register Your Vehicle with UM

All faculty, staff and students who wish to park on campus must register their vehicle through UM’s online permit system.

Step Two: Visit DSS Office to Receive UM Accessible Parking Permit

Individuals requesting a UM Accessible Parking Permit should bring the following items to DSS:

  • State disability parking placard or license tag issued in their name
  • Receipt/registration for their state placard or license tag
  • Current UM parking permit

Individuals requesting temporary disability parking due to an injury or illness may bring a letter from their medical professional indicating the diagnosis or reason for the request and the expected duration of the need for the temporary permit.

DSS will exchange the UM parking permit for a blue UM Accessible Parking Permit. There is no additional cost beyond the initial vehicle registration fee.
