Parking

In order to accommodate parking for all of the different groups on campus and off, UM has a color coded system to make finding the appropriate spot easy. By matching the color of the permit with color of the parking space, surface striping, or signs in the parking areas, drivers will ensure adequate parking for all.

Parking Code

Red Zone: Commuter Student

Green Zone: Residence Hall Student

White Zone: Faculty/Staff

Blue Zone: Accessible Parking

Yellow Zone: All Permits/Overflow

Vehicle Registration

For information about registering your vehicle with Campus Safety, please visit the Vehicle Registration page.

Accessible (Disability) Parking

All faculty, staff and students must register their vehicle (purchase an individual university hangtag/sticker). Individuals who have a state accessible parking placard or license tag should obtain the accessible (blue) permit from the Access and Compliance (AAC) office. Students should submit their commuter or resident parking sticker to exchange for the accessible hangtag. AAC will need to see a copy of the receipt/registration for the state placard/license plate to confirm the individual’s need for the campus accessible permit. Accessible parking permits are the same cost as all other permits.

Temporary accessible parking, due to injury or illness, is also provided through AAC. Individuals should bring a letter from their medical professional indicating diagnosis/reason for the temporary permit and the expected duration of the need. Individuals requesting temporary permits for extended periods of time should obtain the state temporary permit as well.
