Minor in Art

The art minor is available to any student with interest and ability in art.

Requirements: 21 credit hours

Art 120: Art History Foundations
Art 112: Drawing Foundations
Art 122 2D Foundations or Art 132 3D Foundations

Minor in Art History

The Art Department offers a minor in Art History, which is open to students of all majors. The Art History curriculum fosters an understanding of the historical, philosophical, and social conditions of visual culture.

Requirements: 21 credit hours.

Art 120: Art History Foundations
Art 220: Introduction to Art History
Five additional courses are selected from 300- and 400-level art-history

Minor in Arts Administration

Requirement: 21 credit hours

The Arts Administration Minor consists of 21 credit hours distributed among courses in business, finance, and theatre, and three credit hours each from art, business, and communication. Students from all UM majors may minor in arts administration. The Arts Administration Minor is designed for students with an interest in leading, managing, and participating in arts organizations and activities across the arts sector.

Requirements

GB 250 – Applied Finance for Non-Business Majors or FI 372 – Business Finance
THEA 304 – Applied Theatre-Management (must be taken three times for a total of three credit hours)
THEA 404 – Theatre and Arts Management
MK 351 – Principles of Marketing Writing Reinforcement –or MG 361 – Principles of Management and Organization Theory
COMS 344 – Organizational Communication or COMS 420 – Interpersonal Conflict Management

Electives

Select two of the following courses. The courses selected must be from different disciplines, and one must be at the 200 level of above.
