The University of Montevallo Lambda Nu chapter recently received the 2021 Chapter of the Year Award from the National Communication Association’s Lambda Pi Eta student organization, out of 451 chapters from across the nation.
“It’s an honor to have our chapter recognized nationally with this award,” said Dr. Tiffany Wang, associate professor of communication studies and Lambda Nu chapter adviser. “We are grateful for the outstanding communication studies students, alumni and faculty who have invested their time and energy into building our chapter over the years.”
The Chapter of the Year Award recognizes the chapter that best exemplifies the goals of Lambda Pi Eta: recognizing, fostering and rewarding outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies; stimulating interest in the field of communication; promoting and encouraging professional development among communication majors; providing an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication; establishing and maintaining closer relationships between faculty and students and exploring options for graduate education in communication studies.
UM’s Lambda Pi Eta Lambda Nu chapter helps promote the goals of Lambda Pi Eta by supporting students’ participation in academic conferences and co-sponsoring an event to showcase the work of graduating seniors.
The award will be presented on Nov. 20 at the NCA 107th Annual Convention in Seattle.
