“Being a Montevallo student means I can be myself and feel accepted and bond with other people with similar personalities. It also means we all are one family and respect each other despite our differences. We also have great faculty members that listen to us.”

Interesting thing about you: I was homeschooled for two years.

“I think Orientation is important for incoming students because it gives them other students to lean on while they get acclimated to being on campus. It is also a great way for students to learn about campus and know what to do when they get here!”

Interesting thing about you: I grew up working on my family’s beef cattle farm.

“My favorite thing about the University of Montevallo is the emphasis on honoring its rich history. Traditions like finding the crook and College Night allow students to feel connected to a long history while still creating a future unique to them.”

Interesting thing about you: I listen to one album every day; whether it’s one someone recommended or an album I found myself.

Interesting thing about you: I was a Girl Scout for 12 years! I joined when I was five and followed the path all the way through my senior year, earning the big three awards and selling cookies along the way.

“To me, being a Montevallo student means I am constantly surrounded by support from students, faculty, and the community. There are always opportunities to plug yourself in on campus and there truly is a place for everyone here. I have never felt embarrassed to ask for help in my classes, and I always feel comfortable and confident here.”

“I think orientation is important for incoming students because I believe that it’s crucial to have a sense of the Montevallo community, the people and the history that doesn’t feel like a lesson but more insight of what life will be like at UM.”

Favorite organization/activity at UM: MOG- Montevallo Organization of Gaming.  I run a DND campaign every week and it’s my heart and soul!

Favorite place on campus: The Hands! Its my favorite landmark to talk about and look at.

Interesting thing about you: I’ve been an OL for three years! Its been my favorite job on campus, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Interesting thing about you: I came to UM as an undecided major and found out about my current major at Preview Day!

“I believe orientation is so important because it allows incoming students to envision themselves at Montevallo and helps them be prepared and get excited to begin their story here. At orientation, you get a snapshot of all of the amazing opportunities, friendships, and memories that are waiting for you at UM.”

Favorite organization/activity at UM: University Program Council. It gives students a chance to make friends and get involved with the many free and fun events it hosts!

Interesting thing about you: I’m the only ginger out of five kids and my parents!

“Being a Montevallo student means that I’m at home. I’m recognized by my professors as more than just a number. I’m involved in such a big community that it’s like one happy family. I know that while I’m here, I’m going to have resources available for me.”

Favorite organization/activity at UM: I love being on the dance team and getting to do what I love to support my school.

Favorite place on campus: The Barbra Belisle study room in the library. It has the perfect lamp to big light ratio necessary for intense studying.

Interesting thing about you: I’ve been vegetarian for 12 years.

“My favorite thing about the University of Montevallo is how walkable and convenient the campus is! I love not having to drive to all of my classes, and the beautiful walks in-between.”

At orientation, students are given their first taste of forever, and it’s truly one of the most special moments of your entire Montevallo career.”

Favorite place on campus: My favorite spot on campus is the third floor of the library because it’s such a peaceful place to unwind and do schoolwork!

Interesting thing about you: I love all forms of art! Some of my favorite hobbies are cross stitching, reading, painting, and crafting.

Interesting thing about you: My mom, sister, and I own and run a specialty lemonade trailer that we take to different events on the weekends.

“My favorite thing about the University is its small classes. I love this aspect because I am a very shy person so being around a small group of people allows me to get comfortable in the classroom faster. It also allows me to feel more comfortable to speak out.”
