University of Montevallo senior communication studies major Meghan Hilley feels confident about her future in the PR field. Through heavy involvement with College Night and several campus organizations over the last few years, Hilley has developed a strong foundation for professional success.
Beginning with her freshman year, Hilley jumped straight into college life with College Night’s Gold Side, where she has been involved with everything from pit chorus to managing the side’s social media presence.
Her College Night involvement also led her to become a student employee in UM’s Facility and Event Scheduling Office and English and Foreign Languages Department.
“I’ve also met so many meaningful individuals on campus that have made me realize that this is definitely where I belonged for college,” she said.
Hilley is also a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Lambda Pi Eta and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies and has been involved with Baptist Campus Ministries throughout her time as a student.
This spring, she has been a digital marketing intern with PR Alliance and was selected as the 2021 recipient of the Leadership Award in Communication Studies.
All of these experiences have prepared Hilley for success after she graduates on May 8.
“I want to encourage everyone to get as involved as possible. I regret not doing more with my time on campus, even though I did quite a bit,” she said. “I think there is a world of learning to do at Montevallo, you just have to apply yourself and give yourself those opportunities to grow your experience and learn even more. Also, know that your faculty are cheering you on as you work hard! I have loved my time at Montevallo and I’m sad to see it come to an end, but I am hopeful for the future.”
