Josh Miller, M.Ed., LPC-SC, NCC Director of Counseling Services
Bio: Josh is the Director of Counseling Services. He oversees the Counseling Services team and works to make sure students have access to quality services that will help them be successful at Montevallo. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Counseling Supervisor in Alabama. Josh is also a National Certified Counselor. He received a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Sciences from Athens State University in 2004 and a Master of Education in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Montevallo in 2007. Since 2007, Josh has worked for the University of Montevallo as a counselor, senior counselor, and now, Director of Counseling Services. He also worked as a contract therapist for Triumph Services between 2010 and 2013. Josh is a member of the American College Counseling Association and Alabama Counseling Association.
Marcia Hamby, Ph.D., LPC-SC Counselor
Bio: Marcia is a Counselor with CS. Marcia’s primary responsibility to is to work one-on-one with students to help them address life issues, adjust to college life, or cope with mental health issues. She also coordinates UM’s participation in the annual Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk. Marcia completed her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from The University of Alabama in 2007. She is a licensed professional counselor and licensed counseling supervisor in Alabama. Marcia started working at Montevallo in 2011 after working at Samford University from 1997-2010. She has experience in counseling, advising pre-health professional students, and working with students with disabilities. Marcia has been a member of various national and state professional organizations, most recently including the American College Counseling Association and the Alabama Counseling Association.
Brooke Williamson, M.Ed., LPC, NCC Counselor
Bio: Brooke is a Counselor with CS. Brooke’s primary responsibility to is to work one-on-one with students to help them address life issues, adjust to college life, or cope with mental health issues. She also organizes and leads CS’ Running Group which provides opportunities for the UM community to be healthy together. Brooke is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama as well as a National Certified Counselor. She received a B.A. degree in International Trade in 2009 and Master of Education in Counseling with a concentration in community mental health from the University of Montevallo in 2011. Brooke spent time working in the field of substance abuse and then joined the UM Counseling Services Staff in the spring of 2013. She is a member of both the American College Counseling Association and Alabama Counseling Association.
Rachel Haase, M.S. Coordinator of Case Management and Prevention
Bio: Rachel is Coordinator of Case Management and Prevention. As the Case Management and Prevention Coordinator, she provides students with the tools, strategies, support, and advocacy that they may need to navigate various campus and community resources, oversees food and financial assistance, organizes CS’ prevention and awareness programs, and leads UM’s It’s Your Move Bystander Intervention program. Rachel received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Alabama in 2011, and completed her Master of Science in Community Agency Counseling from Jacksonville State University in 2014. She joined the Counseling Services Team as a graduate intern in 2013, and as the Coordinator of Case Management and Prevention in 2014. Rachel is a member of the Higher Education Case Managers Association and the College and University Food Bank Alliance.
