Early Acceptance for Pre-licensure Nursing

Early Acceptance Option

The BSN program has an early acceptance option for highly qualified high school seniors who demonstrate academic success and readiness for the study of nursing. Students participating in the early acceptance program are guaranteed admission to the upper division professional component of the nursing curriculum when they meet the following requirements. Admission is competitive and selective.

Final Deadline: May 1^st; Final Review: Late May

High School Requirements

1. Admitted to the University of Montevallo.
2. Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.75 based on a 4.0 scale.
3. Submit an ACT score of at least 22 composite (Science section required; Superscore is not accepted)
4. Submit 2 letters of recommendation to include the following information: a) Applicants leadership qualities, b) Ability to care for diverse populations, and c) Readiness to assume personal accountability for own learning.

Upon Admission to Early Acceptance Program- Student Requirements

1. Must be continuously enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester (No minimal credit hour requirement for summer semesters).
2. Maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA and grades of “C” or better in all required pre-nursing courses, including all general education, BIO 201, BIO 202, and the support courses listed on the Nursing BSN Program Degree Plan.
3. Maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA in required science courses, including BIO 105, BIO 201, BIO 202, BIO 300, CHEM 101 or 121, and CHEM 102 or 122.
4. ATI TEAS exam total score of 75 or above (must be taken 4-12 months prior to starting BSN upper division courses).
5. Documentation of required program immunizations (Prior to starting BSN upper division courses).
