Department of Nursing and Health Sciences

Our Mission

Students who are interested in our majors will find a diverse curriculum, opportunities for research and faculty who want to engage with their students in and out of the classroom. Our department hosts both Nursing and Exercise and Nutrition Science.

Our nursing program currently offers two tracks. The Pre-licensure BSN track is for those who are entering from the high school level or have not obtained their Associate’s Degree in nursing and the RN to BSN track is for current Alabama licensed RN’s who would like to continue their education and pursue their bachelors in nursing.

Our exercise and nutrition science program is one of few in the country that combines exercise and nutrition sciences in a single degree. We offer unique opportunities to fine-tune your career pathway through specialization in Allied Heath, Health Promotion, Nutrition and Wellness (Dietetics), or Strength and Conditioning. Because the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a faster than average job growth rate for exercise, health, and nutrition fields through the year 2024, we feel confident that our majors are prepared for rewarding careers and advanced educational and training opportunities.
