Charge to Presidential Search Committee

The following outlines the expectations of the members of the Presidential Search Committee with respect to the search process. With the support of a search firm consultant and university Staff, the committee is charged with:

• following policies and procedures for the confidentiality of the search and external communication;

• conducting an analysis, with constituent input, of the institution’s future needs and opportunities and formulating a position advertisement based on the analysis;

• gathering a pool of candidates through advertisements and direct recruitment efforts;

• managing the applicant pool and keeping all candidates aware of their status;

• screening the candidate pool and selecting semi-finalists:

• interviewing semi-finalists and conducting reference and background checks;

• identifying finalists and planning and conducting campus visits;

• providing a final recommendation of candidates to the Board of Trustees; and

• keeping the Board of Trustees and the university community informed of the progress of the presidential search through website and other official communications.
