Transfer Student Scholarships

Entering Transfer Academic Scholarships

Priority Deadline: July 1

Transfer students must submit an application for admission to the University along with all official college transcripts by the July 1st priority deadline. After the priority date, transfer scholarships are awarded on a funds available basis. Scholarships are renewable for one additional year with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA at UM along with maintaining full-time status (12 hours/semester).

For scholarship information concerning current scholarship recipients, please refer to your scholarship award letter or contact the Office of Admissions.

  • Transfer Academic Recognition Scholarship

$3,000 per year. Available to transfer students with a minimum 3.25 GPA and 30 transfer credit hours. The award cannot be combined with another transfer scholarship.

  • Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

$6,000 per year. Available to community college transfer students who are members of Phi Theta Kappa. A minimum 3.00 GPA and 30 transfer credit hours are required for scholarship consideration. The award cannot be combined with another transfer scholarship. Please be advised that students who attend a four-year university after their community college will not be eligible for the PTK scholarship.

  • Anna Papanek Memorial Scholarship

Preference is given to community college transfer students. Awarded to a student majoring in accounting. The student must be classified as a junior or higher and maintain a 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher and majoring in accounting. The scholarship is renewable if the student maintains the required GPA and is majoring in accounting and may be received for a total of four semesters.

  • Out-of-State Scholarship

Pursuant to Alabama Code 16-64-2(b)(3) and Policy 03:100, resident tuition rates may apply to those full-time, undergraduate non-resident students receiving a partial or full scholarship award in recognition of a particular talent or ability, provided such student possessed the talent or ability at the time of initial enrollment and maintains continuous scholarship eligibility at UM. The UM Out of State Scholarship covers up to $12,480.00 per year of the out-of-state tuition. The Out of State Scholarship is renewable as long as the student meets the renewal criteria of the merit scholarship awarded.

Scholarship Exclusions

The following scholarships may not be held in conjunction with one another:

  • Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship
  • Transfer Academic Recognition Scholarship
  • Miss Alabama Scholarship
  • Alumni Honors Scholarship
  • President’s Scholarship in Drama

The University of Montevallo will not permit students to receive any institutional scholarship funds beyond the direct cost of attendance which includes tuition, fees, room, board, and books in a refund. This does not affect any outside sources of aid such as veteran benefits, PACT, external agency scholarships, federal grants, and loans.
