January 9, 2026

The University of Montevallo has appointed Dr. Sara Robicheaux as the next dean for the Michael E. Stephens College of Business. Robicheaux, who began her appointment January 1, 2026, has served as a clinical professor of business at UM since August 2024.

Dr. Sara Robicheaux“I am honored and deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next Dean of the Stephens College of Business,” Robicheaux said. “I appreciate the confidence the University has placed in me, and I look forward to building on the strong foundation established under Dr. Lynne Richardson’s leadership. It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated faculty, staff and students, and I am excited about the future of the College and the role we will play in advancing the mission of the University.”

Robicheaux joins UM after holding multiple leadership roles over 22 years at Birmingham-Southern College. She served as the dean of business programs from 2010 to 2024 and the B.A. Monaghan Professor of Business since 2013. Beginning in 2011, she concurrently served as director of the Jane and Kevin Stump Entrepreneurship Program. From 2016 to 2017, she was the interim vice president of Institutional Advancement.

“It became evident early on that Dr. Robicheaux’s extensive experience in higher education administration renders her uniquely qualified for the position,” said Dr. Courtney Bentley, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs at UM “Moreover, her commitment to the liberal arts and experience with business leaders in central Alabama would likely not be matched through a national search.”

As a business professor, Dr. Robicheaux has taught a range of courses including corporate finance, financial management, financial modeling and personal finance, microeconomics and more. Prior to BSC, she was a visiting assistant professor of finance at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

In service to the broader community, Robicheaux serves on the boards of America’s First Federal Credit Union, the Society of Business, Industry, and Economics and the North Alabama United Methodist Church Foundation.

Robicheaux holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Finance and a Master of Arts in Economics from The University of Alabama. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Birmingham-Southern College in 1997.
