UM ranks high for on-campus and online offerings

November 12, 2020

The University of Montevallo has been named one of the top accredited higher education institutions in the state for its mix of on-campus and online degree programs.

EDsmart.org recently released its list of the “Best online and on-campus colleges in Alabama,” and UM placed in the top five in the state and was the highest-ranking university in central Alabama. UM’s high ranking was based on performance across three National Center for Education Statistics categories: affordability, student satisfaction and student outcomes.

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University has significantly broadened its online offerings in its undergraduate and graduate programs.

EDsmart praised UM for its small average class size for undergraduates, private-university feel and its mix of hybrid and fully online graduate degree programs.

“We are proud to again be designated as one of Alabama’s top universities for online and on-campus delivery of academic programs,” said UM President Dr. John W. Stewart III. “The world is changing, and we are meeting the needs of our students with valuable, creative and nimble delivery of courses in multiple modalities that are user-friendly and stimulating. Credit goes to our academic leadership and faculty, who keep Montevallo ever vibrant and relevant for the students we serve.”
