The ONLINE Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership is for experienced professionals seeking opportunities to advance their careers in K-12 systems, private and nonprofit organizations, as well as academia, clinical research and other education-related and social serving institutions.

About Our Program

UM’s Educational Leadership Ed.D. links theory with systematic inquiry to better position graduates to address complex issues of practice, shape organizational culture, promote sustainable solutions and build capacity to lead change across organizations. Courses are taught by accomplished education and research professionals who engage students in collaborative online instruction.

Transcript Review

The doctoral program in Educational Leadership is a total of 60 credit hours. Students may apply select credit from their Educational Specialist program based on a pre-admission transcript review. To begin the transcript review process, please submit your Ed.D. application and select “yes” in the section asking if you are interested in transfer credit.

Tuition and Fees

The Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership is NOT included in the Montevallo Educators’ Partnership (MEP). Tuition: $498 per credit hour, plus books and fees

  • Master’s degree in education or related field from an accredited institution
  • Professional résumé or curriculum vitae
  • Three professional recommendations, including one from a current supervisor
  • Statement of purpose

WHAT CAN I DO WITH THIS DEGREE?

The program prepares graduates to act as agents of change by implementing best practices and innovative approaches that consider cultural implications, examine geographical contexts and advocate with underrepresented and underserved communities.
