January 26 - Ongoing Recruitment of Regional and National Candidate Audience by Anthem
NOTE: While the position remains open until filled, interested parties are strongly encouraged to submit their materials as soon as possible to assure consideration. Anthem and the University reserve the right to end or extend the application and nomination process at any time.
Mid-March Applications opened to the Search Committee for review.
Late March Search Committee meets to select candidates for initial interviews.
Late March/Early April The Board Steering Committee interviews candidates and selects the pool to be invited to campus.
Early/Mid April Invitations are issued to finalists.
Week of April 20-24 & April 27-28 On-Campus Interviews for Finalist Candidates.
This schedule, subject to change, will be updated as necessary throughout the process.

Approach

The University of Montevallo is launching a national search for our next president with a clear sense of timeliness and purpose. Our focus is to move forward thoughtfully and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards expected for a leadership role of this importance.

The Search Committee has approved an aggressive initial timeline. This approach allows us to enter the market promptly, engage strong candidates early, and maintain momentum throughout the process. We believe this timeline is achievable and positions the University well.

At the same time, the Committee recognizes that a successful national search must remain responsive to market conditions. Once the search is actively underway, we will closely evaluate the depth and quality of the candidate pool. If at any point it becomes clear that additional time would meaningfully strengthen the slate of candidates, the Committee is prepared to extend the timeline to ensure the University ultimately selects the very best next president.

By establishing this approach at the beginning of the process, we are setting clear expectations:

  • We will remain flexible and data-driven.

  • We will prioritize the long-term success of the University over adherence to a fixed schedule.
