The University of Montevallo now offers eligible students the opportunity to purchase books and supplies at the Freddie’s Books and More campus bookstore using their financial aid that has been applied to their accounts!

Students are encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) early and make certain every outstanding requirement is met in order to receive an award notification that will reflect authorized/pending aid. The authorized/pending aid can be viewed on Banner Self Service (BSS). Charges for tuition, fees, and room and board will also be on BSS as charges are placed on each account.

If a student’s aid is greater than their charges, there will be an estimated credit balance. Students with an estimated summer credit balance will be eligible to purchase books and supplies at the campus bookstore. The amount allowed will be capped at the amount of the estimated credit balance, not to exceed $500.00.

The start and end dates to charge books for Spring 2026 is Monday, November 10, 2025 – Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Last day students can return qualified purchases is Friday, February 06, 2026.

First Spring 2026 refunds from the Office of Student Accounts will be issued Friday, January 23, 2026. If interested, please visit Office of Student Accounts to sign up for direct deposit. You must submit a direct deposit authorization form, bank letterhead stating account number and routing number, or voided check. You must also present your UM ID or valid state issued ID.

Institutional Scholarship Reminder: The University of Montevallo scholarships will be reduced to the actual cost of tuition, fees, housing, and food, with a $500 per semester maximum allowance for course required books (to be used at the campus bookstore, Freddie’s Books and More). The University of Montevallo does not permit students to receive a refund beyond these allowable costs. This refund policy does not affect outside sources of aid, such as: veteran benefits, PACT, external agency scholarships, or federal and state grants and loans, unless prohibited by the funding agency.
