Music Camp for Young Musicians

June 21-26, 2026

The University of Montevallo Music Camp is a weeklong performance-focused experience for band, choir, and piano students. High-quality musical instruction is led by expert faculty and select guest artists in a fun, supportive summer camp environment. Day camp and overnight options are available.

MMC welcomes middle and high school-aged vocalists, instrumentalists, and pianists from across the United States. Participants should be between the ages of 11-18, currently be in middle or high school or have just graduated, be able to read music independently, and have completed at least one year of music study in a school or community band, choir, piano class, or have taken lessons privately.

Camp Activities

Day camp and overnight participants enjoy the same large ensemble rehearsals and masterclasses in performance technique, music theory, conducting, improvisation, and music literature throughout the day. Optional one-on-one vocal or instrumental lessons with University faculty are also available.

For our residential camp participants, evening activities include swimming, cookouts, movies, mixers, and recitals.

Optional Private Lessons

Optional private, one-on-one individualized lessons with our faculty and guest artists are also available for a fee of $30 per half-hour lesson with a maximum of two lessons. Private lessons may be taken in or outside the “performance area,” i.e., an MMC band participant may request a private voice or piano lesson.
