University of Montevallo student wins mass communication award

Sloan Gibby of Montgomery, a student in the Mass Communication program at the University of Montevallo, was recognized recently at the Broadcast Education Association’s (BEA) Region 2 convention. Her story, “Montevallo Students Serve at ‘The Big Event,’” won first place in the News/Sports Package category in a competition open to students from across the Southeast. Her story will be featured in the student showcase at the regional convention of the BEA in Boca Raton, Fla., in November.
