University of Montevallo chief of police receives recognition

Chadd Adams, chief of police and director of public safety at the University of Montevallo, recently completed the second level of the Certified Law Enforcement Executive Program. The certification was awarded by the University Partnership for Alabama Continuing Education (UPACE) at the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Gulf Shores.

Belinda Blackburn, director of continuing education at Jacksonville State University and UPACE partner, said “This is a mark of success for Chief Adams as well as for the University of Montevallo for its support of the advancement of law enforcement management principles.”

Adams has served Montevallo as police chief since September 2011. He had previously held the position of assistant chief from June 2008 until he was named acting chief in November 2010. He brought 15 years of law enforcement to the position, including leading and managing training courses for contractors to the Department of Homeland Security, teaching law enforcement techniques as well as tactics and procedures related to weapons of mass destruction.
