University of Montevallo students Mary-Haynes Furman and Savannah Willard presented at the annual meeting of the Society of Alabama Archivists (SALA) at the University of Alabama on Oct. 13.
Their presentation, entitled “The Social Life of Production Books,” focused on their experience in the COPLAC Digital course as well as their research done for the class.

Mary-Haynes Furman is a senior history major at the University, a part of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and the Honors Program. She graduated from Lakeshore High School in 2015.
Savannah Willard is a junior communications major and a graduate of Chattanooga High School Center for Creative Arts. She is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, Lambda Pi Eta and a Montevallo Master.
“I am very thankful to Carey Heatherly, Dr. Ruth Truss and Dr. Sherry Ford for encouraging the two of us to apply to present at the meeting,” said Furman.
The Society of Alabama Archivists (SALA) is composed of archivists throughout Alabama as well as people from other states who are interested in Alabama history.
Its members include archivists from the Alabama Department of Archives and History, the state’s municipalities and counties, its colleges and universities, its military installations and its many special topic archives.
