University of Montevallo bass team members Justin Barnes and Adam Carroll have secured a spot in the forthcoming Bassmasters National Championship. This marks the second year in a row that a UM team has qualified for the championship.
The two college anglers qualified by finishing in the Top 30 during the 2018 Carhartt College Central Tour presented by Bass Pro Shops at Toledo Bend Reservoir in Many, Louisiana.
After the third and final day of the tournament was cancelled due to fog, Barnes and Carroll finished in 28th place with nine total fish caught and 445.56 points.
It was Carroll’s first time competing in a college tournament. “I never qualified for a championship in high school, so to qualify for my first competitive tournament in college is pretty exciting,” he said.
The UM Bass Anglers will continue to finish in collegiate fishing tournaments across the country. Their next tournament will be this weekend on Saturday, Feb. 10 at Lake Seminole, Georgia during the Fishing League Worldwide’s Yeti College Fishing Tournament.
