University of Montevallo to freeze tuition and simplify student fees

In an effort to assist students with the rising costs of higher education, the University of Montevallo plans to freeze 2019-2020 tuition at the undergraduate level.

In addition to freezing tuition, university administration will also be restructuring the student fees.

“The fee simplification will make it easier for students to predict and understand their bills,” said Mary Ellen Heuton, University of Montevallo vice president for business affairs. “An aspect I am particularly pleased with is the elimination of the course fees as those could cause unexpected charges on a students bill if they changed their schedule to a class with a fee.

The UM Board of Trustees will officially vote on the tuition freeze and student fees adjustment during their scheduled meeting on May 1.
