Montevallo Celebrates Pi Week 2014

The University of Montevallo celebrates Pi Week with several events including a Math Grand Prix (a math-related scavenger hunt) on Tuesday, March 11, and presentations on Wednesday, March 12, by guest alumni who will speak on graduate research and graduate studies in math.

UM’s Math Club will hold a bake sale on Friday morning, and the main event will be the “pie-ing” of volunteer faculty, staff and administrators on Main Quad beginning at 2:30 Friday afternoon, March 14. Pies cost $1 to pie a student, $3 to pie a faculty member, and $10 to pie an administrator.

Faculty who have volunteered to be “pied” include Dr. Michael Patton, of philosophy; Dr. Benton Tyler, associate professor of mathematics; and professor Bryn Chancellor, assistant professor of English.
