Greatest Need:
Each year, the University has many unbudgeted needs and expenses. We have a pressing need for unrestricted, budget-supporting gifts to provide for the critical needs of our students, faculty, coaches and staff. Giving to the Annual Fund for Montevallo strengthens the core of the University and our overall financial well-being. It is an opportunity for everyone to participate, year after year, in providing a living endowment to advance the University in excellence. Every gift — no matter the size — makes a difference.
Counseling Services:
Counseling Services works to support the development of and enhance the wellbeing of students through quality clinical services, crisis intervention, preventative mental health initiatives and programming, and access to emergency resources. This mission is accomplished by providing services and resources that respect the privacy, dignity, and diverse backgrounds of each individual and empowers people to reach their academic, personal, emotional, and social goals. ALL GIFTS TO THIS FUND WILL BE MATCHED BY AN ANONYMOUS DONOR.
Outdoor Scholars Program:
Established in August 2015, the President’s Outdoor Scholars Program at the University of Montevallo serves to offer college scholarships to students with a passion for wildlife and conservation. Unique to Alabama, the program provides an opportunity to earn a college degree while also taking an active role in preserving our state’s natural resources. The UM President’s Outdoor Scholars Program rewards current and future students scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 per student per year, for four years, as long as the student maintains a 2.5 GPA.
Student Publications:
The University of Montevallo’s three student publications, The Alabamian, Montage and The Tower offer experiential learning opportunities for students studying journalism, graphic design, photography, business management, marketing and more.
The Alabamian, UM’s student newspaper since 1924, is published every other week during the fall and spring semesters. The Alabamian covers campus news, informs of coming events, surveys the arts and entertainment and provides a forum for the views of the students, faculty and staff.
The Montage, UM’s yearbook, presents an annual pictorial history of campus life. Its roots go back to 1907, yet the Montage was the first yearbook in the state to be produced entirely with desktop-publishing software.
The Tower, a literary and arts magazine, celebrates the ways students express themselves, whether through art, poetry, photography, writing or music. The Tower is published annually.
