Montevallo named one of top schools in state

The University of Montevallo has been named one of the top higher education institutions in the state by Wallethub.com for providing a strong education at an affordable cost.

The website recently released its “2020 College and University Rankings,” which compared more than 1,000 colleges and universities across the nation. UM placed in the top three in Alabama while being compared to other public and private colleges and universities across the state.

While compiling the rankings, Wallethub studied several key indicators for each school, including student selectivity, cost and financing, faculty resources, campus safety, campus experience, educational outcomes and career outcomes.

“The University of Montevallo is honored and proud to receive this significant recognition,” said Dr. Mary Beth Armstrong, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “UM strives to provide a high-quality education at an affordable cost. We serve the state of Alabama in an important way in that we offer an inclusive and safe educational environment for primarily Alabama students, many of whom have financial needs.”
