Local University of Montevallo student receives music award

MONTEVALLO—A number of University of Montevallo music students participated in student auditions for the National Association of Teachers of Singing, held recently at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

Gabrielle Lapidus, of Huntsville, was named a semi-finalist in the First Year College Women category. She studies in the studio of Melanie Williams, professor of music at UM.

Education professor earns national recognition
