Local student receives Lespi Fellowship

MONTEVALLO—Wes Finlayson of Southside was recently awarded the 2012 Jeremy Lespi Poetry Fellowship as part of the 10th annual University of Montevallo Literary Festival. A senior majoring in art, he is the first non-English major to receive the award. Finlayson read his work as part of the festival.

The Lespi Fellowship seeks to honor and promote excellence in student poetry at the University of Montevallo. It was established by UM professors and alumni in memory of English Department graduate Jeremy Lespi, a gifted poet, critic and teacher.
