Lizbeth Juarez was recently elected SGA president.

Lizbeth Juarez, a University of Montevallo student from Hoover, was recently elected president of the UM Student Government Association.

Juarez, an upcoming senior, will serve as UM’s first Hispanic SGA president. She is majoring in management and finance with a minor in management information systems. Prior to being elected president, she served as SGA treasurer during her junior year, sophomore senator and chaplain of the freshman forum.

Her other activities at Montevallo include Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, business fraternity Phi Chi Theta and working for the UM alumni office. Outside of campus, Juarez volunteers at the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and Lakeshore Foundation.

The University of Montevallo Student Government Association strives to facilitate better relationships between the faculty, administration, staff and student body. They work to assess problems, make positive improvements and coordinate change at the University of Montevallo. SGA promotes the ideals of the University of Montevallo, ensures unity through diversity and serves as the student voice to the faculty and administration.
