The Art Department presents Ambiguous Figures: Women and Nature, an exhibition of artworks created in the second half of the twentieth century by women artists associated with the University of Montevallo. Among artworks by other faculty and alumnae, paintings and prints by Dawn Kennedy (1887-1959), Virginia Barnes (1895-1984), and Betty Grisham (1921- ) are featured. Focusing on representations of female forms and botanical forms, this exhibition explores relationships between these subjects and the artists’ figurations of them. Please join us for the exhibition opening and reception on April 22, 4-6 pm, Carmichael Library. Art history students currently enrolled in ART 327: Collections and Exhibitions curated the exhibition, which will be on view until June 1, 2019.
