Enterprise student selected as Montevallo Student Trustee

Mary Light, a University of Montevallo student from Enterprise, began her role as student trustee for the UM Student Government Association this semester.

Light is a senior, double majoring in communication studies and political science. During her time at UM, she has held several positions on SGA, including fine arts senator and sophomore senator.

Her other activities at Montevallo include Chi Omega, where Light currently serves as new member educator. Light is also an active member of the University Honors Program and of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s collegiate honor society.

“It is such an honor to be voted into this position,” said Light. “I’m looking forward to what I can do to better my campus and enact meaningful change for my peers.”

The University of Montevallo Student Government Association strives to facilitate better relationships between the faculty, administration, staff and student body. They work to assess problems, make positive improvements and coordinate change at the University of Montevallo. SGA promotes the ideals of the University of Montevallo, ensures unity through diversity and serves as the student voice to the faculty and administration.
