Position: Senior Camp Counselor

Job Description: Responsible for the health, safety, and well-being of a group of campers (8-10) that you remain with throughout the week. Counselors supervise and facilitate all camp activities, delivering a program to their assigned group. Counselors with a strong swimming ability are also encouraged to become a lifeguard. Overnight Camp Counselors are also responsible for providing a fun and enjoyable experience for campers and leading camp activities. Counselors must be 18 years old or older, have previous experience working with children, have an attitude of service and are required to complete First Aids/CPR Certification (training offered onsite) along with other mandatory trainings. YMCA Camp Cha-La-Kee is a branch of Heart of the Valley YMCA, and counselors will be required to pass background checks and complete all other Heart of the Valley YMCA hiring requirements.

Job Description: McWane Science Center counts on the part-time Education Specialist to engage visitors on-site and through Outreach in programs, classes, demonstrations, and activities in an enthusiastic, accurate, and interactive manner.  Additionally, the part-time Education Specialist develops and implements a variety of educational experiences including reserved school programs, outreach programs, home school labs, summer/holiday camps, adult/teen programs, and special educational events/projects. This position is also responsible for assisting with the care of the animals in our educational animal collection which includes feeding, cleaning, and animal handling.
Accountabilities and Major Duties:
1. Enthusiastically, accurately and effectively engage visitors and audience members in learning through high quality inquiry-based educational interactions and presentations.
2. Develop and/or revise quality educational programs for a variety of audiences and experiences. Develop interactive hands-on activities and written interpretative materials that support program and exhibit content.
3.  Be willing to increase knowledge of science concepts related to exhibits and programs; interaction and presentation techniques, as well as learning methods and educational philosophies by participating in training sessions, seminars, workshops, self-directed research, and other professional development activities. This includes maintaining familiarity with current trends in science and education, view other educators’ programs and classes to learn different teaching styles and techniques and serve as a mentor to new Educators and Volunteer staff.
4. Assist with the care of the animals in our educational animal collection, which includes feeding, cleaning, and animal handling.
5. Perform confirmation and follow-up correspondence with Outreach program customers.
6.  Exhibit interpretation and staffing all areas of the museum on an as-needed basis.

Position: IMAX Dome Theater and V/R Simulator Associate

Job Description: The part-time IMAX Associate is responsible for all aspects of the operation and visitor service within McWane Science Center’s motion-based VR simulator and will also be responsible for the concessions area with cross-training in Theater Host (and seasonal holiday and summer) responsibilities to support the daily operations of the IMAX Theater department.
Accountabilities and Major Duties
1. Welcome and greet each visitor with enthusiasm. Answer visitor questions courteously and helpfully.
2. Run all safety and cleaning inspections at simulator and concessions according to established procedures at the beginning and end of each shift. Report any problems or concerns to your supervisor.
3. Ensure that the simulator and concessions areas are well-stocked and cleaned appropriately per Health Department standards at the end of each shift. Communicate with department head any items that need to be ordered or repaired.
4. Accurately process cash and credit card transactions promptly. Maintain a balanced cash drawer.
5. Follow established procedures for emergency evacuation in a timely and professional manner.
6. Assist in the general housekeeping of all areas of the IMAX Theater and simulator area.
7. Cross-train in other areas of IMAX when appropriate.

Position: Kids Kamp Counselor
