Job Description:

We are seeking a Bookkeeper/ Accountant for our Business Processing Outsourcing Department in our Birmingham office. For this position, experience with QuickBooks is required. The full-time position is available immediately to qualified applicants.

Essential duties include (but are not limited to)
•This highly demanding position requires a positive, self-motivated individual with superior organizational skills, ability to work within deadlines and execute multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure a high level of professional standards.
•Provide consultation to the client, its parent company on their accounting, business administration and taxation needs
•Take over responsibility for clients assigned to you
•Preparation of financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual)
•Preparation of various sales and use tax returns as well as personal property tax returns and other various forms
•Payroll processing
•Assure timely completion and communication of project status internally
•Take ownership of the engagement, anticipating the issues and developing a plan to complete the engagement within budget
•Research technical issues and discuss with Manager/Partner for further guidance
•Performs other related duties as required

Qualifications: •Minimum of 3+ years of relevant accounting experience which includes preparing financial statements and communicating with clients
•Experience using QuickBooks accounting software is required
•German language skills are preferred, but not required
•Able to work in a fast paced high pressure environment
•Must work independently within an established administrative framework
•Strong knowledge of US-GAAP, HGB a plus
•Basic knowledge of US tax system
•Accounting software experience in Peachtree and SAP is a plus
•Team player, willing to work with and contribute to the success of a team of personable, highly motivated professionals
•Proven expertise in MS Word and MS Outlook with a working knowledge of MS Excel, and Adobe software applications
•Demonstrate high-level client-service orientation, ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with maximum discretion and understanding of clients needs
•Ability to understand challenges facing partners and staff members and be able to manage/reschedule priorities effectively
•Professional demeanor
•Superior organization skills – ability to come up with processes and competently follow through

Responsibilities
•Prepare Federal and state corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns, including consolidated and multi-state returns
•Perform technical tax research on a variety of Federal, state, and international tax topics
•Perform a variety of tax consulting projects such as permanent establishment analyses and nexus studies
•Assist with the preparation of income tax provisions for corporate taxpayers under ASC 740
•Provide timely and high-quality services and deliverables that exceed client expectations
•Maintain active communication to manage expectations and ensure client satisfaction
•Prepare clear, concise work papers and other communications
Desired Skills & Experience
•2 – 4 years of professional Federal and state income tax experience including experience in public accounting
•BA/BS degree in Accounting or Masters degree in Accounting/Taxation
•CPA license or similar certification preferred. CPA candidate required.
•Excellent research, writing and communication skills in English
•Process-oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
•Solid organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
•Positive team player attitude
