Student Conduct Process

Hearing Notification

Hearing Notifications

The student will be notified no less than three (3) school days before their scheduled hearing. The letter will include the date, time, and location of the hearing, in addition to the date of the incident, and alleged violation(s) of the Student Code of Conduct. Hearing notifications will be sent to the students University’s email address. This is the University’s official means of communication with students. In some situations, the notification may be hand-delivered and/or sent via US mail.

Conduct Educator Hearing

Hearings may be delayed during time periods in which the University is closed. The Conduct Educator hearing is an informal, non-adversarial meeting between a student and their Conduct Educator or their designee. The purpose of the Conduct Educator hearing is to listen to the student’s perspective of the incident, discuss the circumstances regarding the incident, hear student concerns, and determine if a policy violation occurred. Cases will be investigated and may be determined in absentia based on information gathered and/or submitted when a student(s) and/or organization(s) fail to attend their hearing. The Conduct Educator has the discretion to refer a case to the University Conduct Councils. This may occur when the Conduct Educator needs to recuse themselves or if they feel the case would be best determined by a council.
