The Alabama Legislature recently confirmed the appointment of Gary Ellis to the University of Montevallo Board of Trustees.
Ellis serves as the president and CEO of Compass Media, which he founded in 1988. Compass Media specializes in leisure tourism marketing for the Southern United States, providing a full suite of marketing services including custom publishing, interactive and online marketing, social media and content marketing development.
Ellis earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Montevallo.
Prior to assuming his role on the Board of Trustees, Ellis served as a member of the UM Foundation Board and the Stephens College of Business Advisory Board. Ellis serves on the PR and Development Committee, as well as the Audit and Finance Committee.
Ellis resides in Gulf Shores with his wife Sally.
ABOUT THE UM BOARD OF TRUSTEES: The University of Montevallo Board of Trustees is the governing body of the institution. Duties of the UM Board of Trustees include selecting a president, approving the budget, securing of adequate financial resources, establishing broad institutional policy, and supporting the administrative and educational functions of the institution and those officers and employees responsible for them. Board meetings and committee meetings are posted on the Secretary of State’s website in accordance with the Alabama Open Meetings Act.
