Kodály Institute

Music educators have the unique opportunity to reach beyond the classroom into the home and community. We hope you will join us this summer to explore ways of fostering musical, social, and emotional growth within a new framework of instruction. Daily topics will be grounded in Kodály’s vision for music education and will include tools for incorporating the family into the musical development of students, navigating the future of music education, teacher self-care and the importance of play to foster social and emotional growth. This year’s summer course may not bring us together in person, but we look forward to being together in music!

As the only Kodály Certification program in Alabama, the University of Montevallo Kodály Institute (UMKI) provides an exceptional professional development opportunity that will equip music educators with tools and resources to enrich the curriculum, strengthen learning outcomes, and foster best teaching practices.  UMKI is endorsed by the Organization of American Kodály Educators.
