Honor Band Festivals 2020

We are proud to announce the 2020 University of Montevallo Honor Band Festivals! The festivals will take place over two weekends: the Middle School Festival is February 21-22, 2020, and the High School Festival is  March 6-8, 2020. The festivals will include opportunities to perform standard and contemporary concert band repertoire.

Middle School Festival: February 21-22, 2020

This two day festival begins with chair placement and a rehearsal Friday night. The participants will have an opportunity to hear UM’s chamber ensembles Saturday afternoon. A complete schedule of events will be listed soon, below.

Students must be recommended by a band instructor in order to register for the UM Honor Band. We reserve the right to invite a limited number to fill the positions available. Upper class students will have first preference, but we encourage young talented students to apply as well.

Deadline: The deadline for the recommendation form from band directors was January 24, 2020. We are no longer accepting submissions for the Middle School Festival.

The list of accepted students is posted below.  Students on the list may register and pay the $70.00 fee online. Chair try-out audition requirements are listed below.

High School Festival: March 6-8, 2020

The UM Wind Ensemble will kick off the weekend with a concert on Friday night, March 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Palmer Auditorium. The participants will also have an opportunity to hear UM’s chamber ensembles as well as enjoy pizza and jazz Saturday evening with the UM Jazz Ensemble.

You must be recommended by a band instructor to register for the UM Honor Band. We reserve the right to invite a limited number to fill the positions available. Upper class students will have first preference, but we encourage young talented students to apply as well.

The list of accepted students is posted below (updated 2/26/20).  Students on the list should register and pay the $70.00 fee – preferably online by Wed., March 4. After that date, please plan to register at the door. Chair try-out audition requirements are listed below.
