Instructional Leadership/Class A Program

If you currently hold a Class B certification and have three years of full-time educational experience, you are eligible for the MEd program in Instructional Leadership. This program leads to Class A certification in IL.

If you currently hold Class A certification and have three years of full-time educational experience, you are eligible for the Reduced Hour Option (RHO). This program leads to Class A certification in IL. It is a certification only program, meaning you will not participate in graduation.

The first step is to apply to graduate study at UM here.

Admission Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 2.75 GPA from a regionally accredited university or master’s degree with a 3.0 GPA
  • Valid Alabama Class B certificate for the MEd IL program; valid Alabama Class A certificate for the RHO program
  • Passing score on the Admission Portfolio and Interview
  • Minimum three years of full-time education experience at the P-12 level; at least one year must be full-time teaching experience
