Background Clearance Information
All candidates must be fingerprinted for a criminal history background check for field placement courses and admission to TEP through the Alabama State Department of Education to the Alabama Bureau of Investigation (ABI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) pursuant to Act 2002-457. Fingerprints for teacher certification must be processed through Cogent Systems. See the link below for additional information regarding the fingerprinting process.

Core Academic Skills for Educators Test
Please make sure you use your correct social security number when registering for tests! The Alabama State Department of Education matches the social security numbers from Praxis score reports with certification information submitted upon graduation. As such, please be sure to include a full social security number when registering for Praxis tests. Candidates with incomplete or inaccurate numbers may be required to pay an additional fee to resend their score report (with correct social security numbers) to the ALSDE. Certification may be delayed until the corrected score report is received
