Jim Connell, DBA

Jim Connell, DBA Dr. Connell is an Associate Professor of Finance in the Stephens College of Business at the University of Montevallo. He holds a DBA in Finance from Louisiana Tech University and complete post-graduate accounting classes at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is a CPA and holds the CGMA (Chartered Global Management Accountant) certification and taught CPA review classes for the Becker Professional Review. Prior to joining the University of Montevallo, Dr. Connell taught at Shorter University and Mercer University, including approximately ten years working with non-traditional students in night classes. He has traveled to Hong Kong and Taiwan to teach week-long non-traditional classes for Southeastern University and taught as an adjunct for Judson College, Louisiana Tech University, and Troy State University. His teaching and research interests include the combination of Finance and Accounting as well as structural equation modeling and machine learning. Dr. Connell’s research has been published in Advances in Accounting Information Systems, Accounting Instructor’s Report, and the Journal of Business, Industry and Economics, presented at the International Conference on Pattern Recognition Applications and Methods, in Malta and both presented at, and published in the International Conference Proceedings of, the 3rd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition (AIPR 2020) held in Xiamen, China.
