Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Harbert Writing Center.
Dr. Chandler received her B.A. from Auburn University and M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama, where she specialized in Composition, Rhetoric and English Studies. Her research focuses on the history of rhetoric and its relationship to broader literary and cultural developments, historiographical methods in rhetorical studies, and place-based writing. Her classes consider the same themes and include Composing Place, Professional and Technical Writing, Prison Literature, and Coming of Age Literature in the American South. When not wrangling her daughter (Q Monster), her husband, or her menagerie, she enjoys exploring the nooks and crannies of Alabama and smelling history in local archives.
