Barbara Brande

Barbara Brande is an assistant professor of geology in the Department of Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Montevallo.

She earned her undergraduate degree in Geology from Rutgers in New Jersey, her graduate degree in Geophysics from Stony Brook in New York, held a research position at Caltech and worked as a seismologist for a geotechnical engineering company before joining the faculty of the University of Montevallo.

Ms. Brande teaches Physical Geology, Historical Geology and Planetary Geology at the University of Montevallo.  She is a licensed professional geologist registered by the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Geologists and is a member of the American Institute of Professional Geologists and the National Association of Geology Teachers.  Her interests include the geology of the state of Alabama, seismology, environmental and hazard geology and Earth Science education.
