About Communications


The communications team of UR
supports the mission of the University of Montevallo by:

providing services to assist the campus in clearly and concisely projecting the University's core values, attributes
and strengths;

maintaining the front page and news pages on the website along with the official University social media sites;

overseeing external communication to ensure branding standards are met;

coordinating communications with the media and, in conjunction with the UMPD, executing the University’s Emergency Communication Plan.



We strive to offer the latest updates and accomplishments of UM students, faculty, alumni and campus programs. This information is distributed via press releases, available on the UM website and sent to local media. To request coverage, please submit request.

The alumni magazine, Montevallo Today,features alumni profiles, a message from the president, campus news and features, athletics updates and a widely read class notes section. It is published three times per year in print and on thealumni site.

Vallo Voice,the campus newsletter, is published weekly on Tuesdays during the fall and spring semesters and biweekly throughout the summer. Deadline for submissions is on Thursdays. Submissions may be sent to marcomm@montevallo.eduwith “Vallo Voice: Submission” as the subject line.

Social Media

We manage all University-wide social media accounts. We are available to offer guidance regarding the specific social platforms that might best fit your needs and discuss the ways you can amplify your message via those platforms.

To have an event covered and/or shared, please include a brief description of what the event is, what/who should be highlighted, a full schedule of the event, and any images (jpegs or png files) you would like to use to promote the event.
TIMELINE: minimum of 1 week for event coverage. All event coverage is subject to request volume and University initiatives.
