On Dec. 12, the University of Montevallo will hold its winter commencement for fall graduates at 10:30 a.m. on Flowerhill Lawn.
The University’s winter commencement has traditionally been held indoors. However, due to COVID-19 precautions, the event will be held outside this year and graduates will be able to invite up to four guests each. The ceremony will also be live-streamed online.
Social distancing guidelines will be followed and all attendees will be required to wear masks during the commencement.
In order to maintain appropriate social distancing, the event will only be open to fall 2020 graduates.
As is the case for winter commencements, most faculty are excused from attending.
There will be no rehearsal, so it will be important for students to read directions that will be posted in the coming days.
Graduates should report to Main Quad by 10 a.m. to line up for the processional. To order commencement regalia, visit montevallo.shopoakhalli.com. Students will be provided a mask in their regalia order.
A special ceremony for last spring’s graduates (May 2020) is being planned for spring 2021. The details about that event are also forthcoming.
